The main idea behind MapMapis to create map viewer, maps for which could be produced without extraordinary effort by the end users.

As such, MapMap is:

• Raster-based, as producing/obtaining/converting vector map isusually beyond capabilities of mere human.
• Uses common desktop format for images, as using propriataryformat without need limits user.
• Generally keeps data formats open as it allows to use alreadyavailable third party tools to process data.
